When considering your personal kitchen floor plan, for safety reasons you should adhere to the following rule:-

  • Minimum distance between sink and hob of 600mm (2ft).

  • Minimum gap of 760mm (2ft 6in) above the hob.

  • A hob and oven should not be located such that any door can swing open against them.

  • A hob must have a clear worktop or a space of at least 200mm (8in), on either side. This is mainly important where tall cupboards or walls contain a hob; these should be at least 200mm (8in) away from the edge of the hob to check heat damage and allow for pan handle movement.

  • A hob must not be located underneath a window as draughts can turn off gas fire and leaning across a hob to open the window is dangerous.

  • Minimum expanse of 1200mm (3ft 11in) between any two rows of cupboards that face one another, for model in a galley kitchen, or where an island has been installed. This allows for drawers and the doors of front-loading appliances to be opened, while allowing ease of passage.

  • Avoid short runs of worktop of less than 1000mm (3ft 3in) everywhere possible.

  • A run of worktop should be supported by a vertical strut every 600mm (2ft). Where two appliances are sited next to each other, allow space for a behind panel to be located between them.

  • Recent building rules require all kitchens to have "adequate air extraction".

There is an immense collection of kitchen taps available on the market today to satisfy all tastes and budget and match any kitchen design system, then means that the final choice only comes down to aesthetic look and functionality. The following direct explains all the key variables to help you confidently select the right tap for your needs.

Before diving straight to tap brochures, consider first the sink you have chosen for your kitchen. Remember that if you’re appropriate a new tap in an open sink, or have purchase a sink with pre-drilled tap holes, you should select a tap that requires the same number of holes to help simplify the fixing. Also, a sink with more than one bowl will be best coupled with a mixer tap with a portable spout.

Types of kitchen tap

Basically there are 3 variables main design of taps:

  • The number of faucets from which water flows.
  • The number of holes that need to be made in the worktop, sink or wall.
  • The number of valves controlling the flow of water

  1. Clean the countertop carefully with soap and warm water.
  2. Sand the countertop carefully and remove the dust with a clear-water rinse.
  3. Roll the primer on and let dry quickly. Be sure to ventilate the area well throughout the method.

  4. After the primer has dried and I mean dried give it at least quickly. You can apply an oil-based topcoat. I like to cut in with a natural bristle brush, then apply the paint with a 7-inch roller cover that has a 1/4-inch nap. Most paint-roller frames are 9 inches in length, but the smaller frame is easier to plan around countertops and cabinets. The 1/4-inch nap is great for oil-based products, just enough paint is held in the nap and it rolls on a nice, even finish.
  5. Tape-off the preferred design. Working from the middle out, use a pouncing technique and a small brush to apply the lighter color, filling in a small area. Blend the medium color, and then the dark paint, overlapping the colors while also loading the brush as you go. The paint will build a fairly heavy film, but as the colors start to level, it will give you the desired granite look. Oil provides a little more working time since is dries slower than latex paint.

  6. While the paint is still wet, start adding the veins that give marble its unique feature. Using a small artist's brush, and white paint, push the brush forward, with a very gentle touch; let the brush work for you. Sometimes the vein will be thick and sometimes it will break off and start again. Sometimes the vein will be thick and sometimes it will break off and start again. Have fun with this step
  7. Let the paint completely dry , and then apply several coats of polyurethane for protection.
